Manuscript Read & Evaluation

You wrote the book. Now you need someone willing to tell you the truth about it.

FOR NONFICTION AND MEMOIR

Congratulations! You did the thing most people never do.

You’re officially in the 1% now.

You sat down, over and over, and you finished a manuscript. Somewhere between the first page and the last, you probably lost the ability to see it clearly — because you're too close to the material now.

You've read it so many times the words have stopped meaning anything.

WAIT! Before you do another round of edits, you’d rather hear what’s working, what’s not, and what’s missing before you move on to developmental editing, copyediting, and proofreading.

A Manuscript Read & Evaluation will give you the confidence to know your book is solid.

What you do with your first draft sets the stage for everything that comes next.

Send it out too soon, to the wrong editor, in the wrong direction — and you can lose months, even years, rebuilding what should've been caught on day one.

Get an honest read first. Then you'll know exactly where to go.

You’ll get answers and a clear roadmap of what to do next.

I read your entire manuscript, then put together a written evaluation covering the big picture:

  • Does the story or argument hold together from start to finish?

  • Is the structure doing what it needs to do?

  • Who is this book really for — and does it speak to them?

  • Does this book support your business or brand?

  • Where is your voice strongest? Where does it evaporate?

  • What could be removed and importantly, what’s missing?

  • What's landing, what's not landing yet, and why?

Once I’ve reviewed your manuscript, we’ll have a 90-minute call to discuss what I uncovered. You leave with a clear map of what your manuscript needs — not a vague sense that "it needs work."

Think, “create four distinct book sections, here’s where to put each chapter and what to flesh out or streamline.”

What this isn’t:

This isn't line editing, chapter rewrites, or proofreading.

Your book deserves someone whose full-time job is that layer of detailed work. Once we've done the read and the eval, I'll connect you with a developmental editor and/or copyeditor I trust who is perfectly suited to your manuscript.

Think of me as the diagnostic. I tell you what rings true about the book you wrote, what’s working, and what to do next. Then I give you a roadmap on where to go next.

Who This Is For

This is for you if:

  • You've finished a full draft and you're ready to hear the truth about it

  • You're not sure if what you have is close, or if it needs a bigger rebuild

  • You want a clear next step, not a round of vague feedback from well-meaning friends

This is not for you if:

  • You're still drafting and are a long way from finishing the manuscript

  • You want line edits or chapter rewrites — that's a different offer

  • You want a cheerleader. I'll tell you what's working. I'll also tell you what isn't.
